The context sensitivity of planner widgets
Context sensitivity in Supply Chain Planning refers to data links between widgets, where the state of the data in a widget functions as a filter that is passed on to other widgets. You can configure widgets to provide context to other widgets, receive context, or both.
For example, consider a scenario where you have a simple app that is comprised of a single app board with a Grid widget and a Map widget, both of which display sites. You configure the Grid widget to provide context and the Map widget to receive context. In this example, the Grid widget functions as a filter on the Map widget. When you select a site in the grid, it's displayed on the map.
The scope of context sensitivity for a widget is either limited to widgets on the same app board or it extends to widgets on other app boards that participate in the global context. App boards that are part of the global context share widget context with all other app boards within the same app that are also part of the global context. Specify to include an app board in the global context when you create or edit the board.
Data is included in the global context when all of these conditions are met:
- The widget with the data is configured to provide context.
- The data in the widget providing context is selected.
- The app board with the widget providing context is configured to participate in the global context.
